On his way to the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Nils Frommhold stopped in Mont Tremblant for the 70.3 World Championships. In his first 70.3 Worlds, Nils became 5th and finished 2nd best German, although he did not have a „smooth start“, as he said later. He only was 11th out oft he water. However, on the bike he could close the gap to the leaders after 25k and managed to get out oft he second transition within the first group. Javier Gomez (ESP) and Jan Frodeno (GER) immediately attacked on the 21k run course, but Nils stayed calm and ran a tactically clever half marathon.
Mont Tremblant seemed to be the race for athletes coming from the Olympic Distance. Javier Gomez and Jan Frodeno faught for the title among themselves. The bronze medal took the Tim Don (GB), powered by power2max, with a clear lead of Lionel Sander (CAN), 4th place, and Nils Frommhold, 5th.
In France, another power2max athlete was very successful. The French Antony Costes, participated in the Isostar Extreme Man Narbonne – 1.9 km swim, 85 k bike and 21 k run. The fastest swim and the best bike split meant, that Antony got out of T2 with a 2 min lead. The other athletes fought hard, but could not catch him in the end.
Congratulations guys, good job!
